Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 5, 2026
Loud Unicorn LLC ("we," "us," "our") built Threengs. This policy explains exactly what data Threengs collects, why, and how it is handled.
1. What Data We Collect and Why
Relationship & Couple Data (core app functionality):
- Your first name or nickname — entered by you during setup, displayed to your partner after pairing. Used to personalize your experience.
- Your partner's name — entered by you; used only for display in your app. Not transmitted to our servers.
- Your daily question answers — stored locally on your device and synced only to your paired partner's device via Apple CloudKit. Used to enable the mutual answer reveal feature.
- Your partner's daily question answers — received from your partner's device via CloudKit. Stored locally on your device.
- Shared answer history — a log of past questions and both partners' answers. Stored locally and synced via CloudKit.
- Streak data — the count of consecutive days both partners have answered. Stored locally and synced via CloudKit.
- Preferred question categories — your selected question topics (e.g., fun, deep, reflective). Stored locally using AppStorage.
- Pairing code and pairing status — used to identify your device pair. Stored locally.
App Usage Data:
- App open/close events and feature interaction data — collected in aggregate to understand how features are used and improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.
- Crash reports and technical diagnostics — device model, iOS version, app version, and anonymized crash stack traces. Used exclusively for identifying and fixing bugs.
2. What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your email address or phone number
- We do not read your question answers on our servers — they live on your device and your partner's device only
- We do not have access to the content of your paired relationship data
- We do not use advertising SDKs or share data with ad networks
- We do not track your location
- We do not collect biometric data
3. Data Storage — Local Device and CloudKit
All relationship content — your answers, your partner's answers, history, and streak data — is stored locally on your device (via SwiftData and UserDefaults) and synced between your device and your partner's device exclusively through Apple CloudKit.
CloudKit uses your personal iCloud account and your partner's iCloud account. Loud Unicorn LLC does not have access to your CloudKit data. This sync is private and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy (apple.com/privacy).
4. Third-Party Services
- Apple CloudKit — device-to-device sync of paired answer data (Apple's privacy policy applies)
- Apple StoreKit 2 — in-app subscription processing (Apple's privacy policy applies)
- Apple UserNotifications — local push notifications for daily question reminders (no data leaves your device)
- Apple WatchConnectivity / WatchKit — Apple Watch companion features (all data stays within your device ecosystem)
We do not integrate any analytics SDKs from third parties (no Firebase, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel).
5. Children's Data
Threengs is not directed at or intended for children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a minor has used the app, please contact us at legal@loudunicorn.com.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Local data: stored on your device indefinitely until you uninstall the app. Uninstalling Threengs permanently deletes all locally stored data.
CloudKit data: stored in your personal iCloud account. To remove CloudKit data, go to iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Threengs and delete the app's iCloud data.
To unpair from your partner: use the Unpair button in Settings > Profile. This ends CloudKit sync between devices.
7. How to Delete Your Data
1. Tap Unpair in Settings to disconnect from your partner and stop CloudKit sync
2. Uninstall Threengs to delete all local data
3. Remove Threengs iCloud data in iOS Settings > iCloud > Manage Storage

8. Security
We use industry-standard practices including HTTPS for any network requests. Your relationship data stays within Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and is protected by your iCloud account credentials.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

3. Your Rights Under GDPR

Right to Data Portability (Art. 20): You have the right to receive your personal data in a portable format. Contact gdpr@loudunicorn.com to request an export of any data we hold about you.
Right to Object (Art. 21): You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Contact gdpr@loudunicorn.com to exercise this right.
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by stopping use of the relevant feature or uninstalling the app.

Threengs stores data locally on your device. CloudKit sync is governed by Apple's EU data transfer framework (Apple's GDPR commitments and Standard Contractual Clauses apply). We do not independently transfer personal data outside the EU/EEA.
